After Jingjin Cheon won a gold medal in the 500 meter sprint, the man from the Korean press went totally wild. He kept shouting his name and that resulted in the whole crowd yelling the name of the Korean winner ‘Jongjin Cheon’ Even the speakers started firing on the crowd. Who is Jongjin Cheon?

We looked him up after the ceremony. He doesn’t speak English himself but the team manager translated for us.

Jongjin Cheon is 19 years old and this is his first World Championship. On Monday he already won a silver medal in the 1000 meter. His teammate Woonggyu Choi got the bronze medal. The world champion is Juan Arango from Colombia.
