Traditionally during the Flanders Grand Prix the Cadet Challenge was held: the unoffical European Championship for Cadets. The short distance ranking was made up after the 300 meter and 500 meter. For the long distance ranking the skaters did a 5000 meter elimination race and a 3000 meter points race.
